My turmeric yellow rice is full of flavor and goes well with lots of dishes! I’ve made this with Greek food, Indian food, Mediterranean food, and goes well with chicken, lamb or beef. I make it in my rice cooker so it’s easy peasy too. You just rinse and drain your rice, then add it to the rice cooker with all of the ingredients. Once the cooker button pops up, presto! It’s done.
I ALWAYS rinse and drain my white rice before I cook it. Tastes better and cooks better too. The flavors seem to stick to it more! Make sure when you do this recipe, you rinse and drain your white rice. I’ve used long grain and basmati rice, both cook up well and taste great. If you make this on your stove instead, you would still dump in all of the ingredients and simmer for about 20 mins or so, until rice is soft.
Garlic flatbread goes perfect with this yellow rice and all of the dishes I mentioned up above too! It’s also really easy to make and requires very little resting time and kneading. The garlic powder in the recipe is optional but it adds flavor and I make mine with the garlic powder. You can use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream if you’d like as well. I like to cook with coconut oil, but for this recipe I use olive oil. I haven’t tried it with coconut oil, but I’m sure it would be good! You would just need to make sure the coconut oil is melted prior to mixing in with the dough ingredients. Check out the pics and recipe below!
